I have the honour to forward for your Information
the following particulars re a case of life saving.
About 3.30 p.m. on the 22nd. instant shortly after the Ferry Launch "Evening Star" left the Hongkong Wharf one of the Chinese passengers jumped overboard with the intention of commit- -ting suicide when a European passenger (Mr. G. W. Sewell of Deacon, Looker, Deacon and Harston) dived from the top deck of the Ferry and went to the rescue and in spite of the would be suicide's struggles, succeeded in holding him up until the Ferry Boat went alongside of both men and enabled the crew and passengers
to pick both on up.
The would be suicide named Tsu Fuk, aged 19 years, servant boy of Beaconsfield Arcade, when brought to Station stated that he was sick and tired of life; he was sent to Hospital and was discharged on the 23rd. instant and will be brought before the Police Magistrate this morning.
